B-SIDE GUIDE

It’s a sandwich-girl summer

Wraps, subs, classic sammies, you name it … If it’s between two pieces of bread, we’ll eat it. So whether you’re in need of a beach snack or a lunch break from clickity-clacking on your laptop (sad!), we whipped up a list of B-Side membership sammie perks to keep your bellies full and wallets light.

🥪 Take mega $$$ off these MEGA subs from Paisani. Born from two UMass college buddies’ love of Italian food, this Boston-based food truck is churning out flavor bombs the size of your face (Exhibit A). “Food with personality” is their credo, and boy do they mean it — expect generous portions, high-quality ingredients, and big flavor. Fun fact: They competed on the Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race.” Check out their schedule here.

💰The deal: Get 15% off your order when you flash your B-Side pass.

🍅 Pair your sammie with FREE pasta salad and chips. Nestled on Old Colony Avenue in Southie is The Dirty Italian, an adorable brick-and-mortar sammie spot from charcuterie queen Talya Pessolano (no seriously, just look at this spread she made for us). And depending how hungry you are, you can order your sandwich in “Bada Bing” or “Bada Boom” sizes (lol). Bonus: Charcuterie and grab‑and‑go options are always available, too.

💰The deal: Get a free side of pasta salad and chips with your sandwich — just flash your B-Side pass!

😋 Our recs:

  • “The Dirty Italian” with peppered ham, mortadella, hot capicola, soppressata, asiago, EVOO and vinegar

  • “The Dom” with crispy chicken cutlet, asiago and pecorino, arugula, lemon dressing

🍦 Get a FREE sweet treat at Big Grin. You deserve it! Born from Michelin-starred Chef John Fraser’s, Big Grin turns the smashburger craze into a sleek, flavor-forward experience. Picture: Black Angus patties, tallow-caramelized onions, juicy tomato, Patriot pickles, American cheese, and Grin Sauce. It’s open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Lineup, a bougie (yet affordable!) downtown food hall that puts Sweetgreen to shame.

💰 The deal: Get a free soft serve with the grilled chicken sandwich — just flash your B-Side pass.

😋 Our recs:

  • Big Grin burger

  • Crinkle cut fries

  • Vanilla soft serve

🥤 Slurp up BOGO bubble teas with a side of bánh mì. Bon Me started as an underdog food truck and has fully baked into a city-wide favorite, shelling out dishes like miso-braised pulled pork, gochujang chicken, and paprika tofu on PERFECT baguettes. Obv, their bánh mì and noodle bowls are the heavy hitters, but don’t sleep on their bubble teas and Vietnamese iced coffee. Bonus: There are several locations around the city, so it’s easy to find.

💰 The deal: Buy one, get one FREE bubble teas — just flash your B-Side pass!

😋 Our recs:

  • Pineapple matcha boba

  • Brown sugar milk bubble tea

  • Dragon boat boba

Those were just our newest perks. Check out the 60+ others here!

👀 Plus, our members get access to curated Boston Globe content every Saturday — paywall-free. Here are this week’s reads:

😬 This is the textbook definition of tea. A former Boston news anchor just sued WBZ-TV, alleging she was discriminated against because she is white.

👀 The tables have turned. Restaurant workers share eight ways to be a better guest. And lowkey, they’re so right.

📲 The no-phones-in-schools cellphone debate continues … New research just dropped on how much students are using them in class … and it ain’t pretty

😅 Think food critics are picky? From servers who don’t write down customers’ orders to QR codes, Globe readers shared their biggest restaurant gripes. And did NOT hold back.

🏖️ A hot new eyesore enters the villa. How oversize beach tents and cabanas are overrunning the beach.

👯 One of the hardest parts of adulting? Maintaining adult friendships. And if maintaining them feels like this, it might be time to let them go.

😫 Feeling five-star fatigue? From eating out to ear surgeons, some people are rightfully SICK and TIRED of being asked for reviews of everything they buy. Retweet!

🥒 Pickle hive, RISE! Here’s an easy peasy recipe for making crunchy bread and butter pickles in your own fridge.
