T-6 days till you crash out while carrying a couch in a stairwell … a.k.a., Sept. 1!

From parking permits to street mattresses, here’s everything you need to know to get from Point A to B:

🚚 First and foremost: Don’t become a Storrowing meme! Repeat after us: If my truck is over nine feet tall, I will NOT go on Storrow Drive, Soldiers Field Road, OR Memorial Drive. Pretty please pay attention to those “CARS ONLY” and “NO TRUCKS” signs, and use truck driving apps (i.e. TruckMap, Hammer, TruckerPath, SmartTruckRoute) to make sure you don’t get stuck.

🅿️ Get your parking permit ASAP. Shot: It’s too late to apply online. Chaser: You can still apply in person as long as it’s three days before your moving day. It’s *technically* not required, but it’ll probably save you the headache of knowing where to park your truck (and save you $$$ from any tickets). Here’s where to snag your permits in Boston, Somerville, Cambridge, and Brookline.

🛏️ Mattresses DON’T belong on the curb. They’re actually required to be recycled by state law. So schedule a pick-up with the city for your mattresses and box springs, but leave your futons and mattress toppers with the rest of your trash. Got any TVs, AC units, or other appliances with Freons or Cathode Ray Tubes? You’ll need a special collection appointment to junk those. See here for the full list (and any exceptions).

🚘 Hit the road in the morning if you can swing it. The Sept. 1 rush will be smack in the middle of the day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. So wake up early and get a head start to beat traffic.

📲 When in doubt, call 311. It’s Boston’s non-emergency line in case you have any last-minute questions, whether it’s about your neighborhood trash day or issues with your street signs.

🚇 “Today drained me.” — probs T riders about summer shutdowns. First it was the Red Line, then the Green, and now the Orange, and everyone is pissed trying to get around the city. And bad news: This isn’t the end. We’re still in for more shutdowns in the fall (peep this nine-day Green Line OOO alert), and likely more into 2027. The silver lining? Trains are getting faster, and slow zones are dipping … so hopefully we won’t be complaining forever … but no promises …

✈️ Kinda chic to put the Green Monster at the airport. That’s exactly what JetBlue did in their new 12,000-square-foot BlueHouse Lounge at Logan Airport’s Terminal C. The lounge — which opens tomorrow — is designed as a “love letter to Boston.” Think: A classic Mass. “entering” sign, lobster rolls, and yes, a Green Monster replica display. It even highlights the work of many local bizzes, including a curated candy section by Madeleine’s Candy Shop and cocktails from Equal Measure’s Jackson Cannon. But we’re partial to the mural ft. famous characters from children’s author Richard Scarry.

🌷 Boston just crowned the fairest gardens in all the land. Translation: Mayor Michelle Wu just announced the winners of the city’s annual Mayor’s Garden Contest. This 30-year-old tradition recognizes people who transform their yards, balconies, etc. into gorg green spaces that spruce up the community, and they’re all judged on criteria like color, variety, and sustainability. Just look at the lights on Suzen Holohan’s vegetable garden in Eastie! We’re equally obsessed with Ellen Scalese’s bright red flowers in her shade garden. See all the winners here!

💃 Diva down in the produce aisle! Enter: Market Rate, Jacque Cabaret’s new Market Basket-themed drag show, where you’ll get wayyyyy more for your dollar. This show will be fit with burlesque, live singing, and a very on-brand rotisserie-chicken-eating competition. Plus, the event doubles as a fundraiser for local food charities and pantries. Psst! The 7 p.m. show is already sold out, BUT the late show at 10 p.m. still has seats!

POV: The CITGO sign is giving you the middle finger.

ICYMI: The iconic CITGO sign is undergoing a bit of a reno ‘cause, well, she’s old af (she was built in 1965!). She’s also being slightly repositioned up and over from her OG spot, with construction probs going through December. 

But as crews started the rebuild, locals were QUICK to notice the sign’s empty frame was … seemingly flipping them the bird. Don’t worry, it was in a proud, wholesome Masshole way, with users calling it “the most Boston sign.”
