SAIL BOSTON
Arrrrrrr you ready, kids?!

It’s time to get ship-faced. ‘Cause Sail Boston, a *massive* maritime celebration is, quite literally, shipping up all the coolest boats to Boston from July 11-16.
Here’s everything to know:
🇺🇸 The TL;DR: Sail Boston is part of Sail250, where global tall ships and military vessels have gathered at various U.S. ports to celebrate. And Boston is the last leg of it. But Sail Boston is not just a one-time thing. Since 1976 (the bicentennial), it’s been held every few years or so, or for major milestones, like *cough* America’s 250th b-day.
⛵ Fun fact: Size doesn’t actually matter. In fact, ~50-feet tall is technically considered “short” in tall ship land. Instead, it’s defined by its ~purpose~, i.e., a ship for conducting sail training. Length doesn’t matter either (unless it’s entered into a race), but many at Sail Boston are Class A vessels, a.k.a. more than 131 feet long.
📣 Boston’s own USS Constitution is leading the way! Expect 60+ tall ships and military vessels from 20+ countries, including Old Ironsides herself, which is the oldest ship of them all. Other ships to look out for: The B.A.P. Unión from Peru, a.k.a. the biggest one here at 379 feet long, and The Mayflower II, which is an exact replica of the OG. They’ll all be docked around Charlestown, downtown Boston, and the Seaport.
✍️ OK, Type A girlies, here’s your itinerary:
July 11: Parade of Sail, where all the ships will cruise around the harbor. You can catch it from the Seaport, Waterfront, Southie, Eastie, North End, Charlestown, Winthrop, and the Harbor Islands.
July 11-15: Free festival in Seaport with entertainment, a beer garden, a ferris wheel, and public boarding of the ships
July 11 and 15: Fireworks by the Fan Pier
July 13: Crew and cadet street parade with ~1,000 sailors from around the world
See the full schedule, a map, and a list of all the ships.
😵💫 Thought Boston was already at max capacity? Well, *4 million* people are expected to come just for the boats over the course of the event. So those World Cup-level crowds aren’t going anywhere just yet …
🚃 Say it with us now: I. Will. Take. The. T. The MBTA is ramping up service on all subway lines for the July 11 parade of sail, and will run shuttles every five to 10 minutes from JFK/UMass and Sullivan Square if you’re going to Castle Island or Charlestown Navy Yard, respectively. Note: Ferries will be suspended until 4:45 p.m. on July 11 and run on a normal schedule from July 12-16. But expect delays since the harbor will obv be very congested …

CITY
Quick & dirty headlines

🏒 We’re finally putting the “Boston” in the Boston Fleet. Translation: Our pro women’s hockey team is officially moving to BU’s Agganis Arena this winter!!! While the Fleet have called Lowell’s Tsongas Arena home for the past three seasons, they struggled to fill seats on weeknights (the sparse commuter rail service + rush-hour traffic def didn’t help). On the flip side, they sold four out of six games out at Agganis over the last two seasons. So … who’s getting season tickets with us??
🍽️ Big restaurateurs have their eyes set on Boston. Think: Daily Provisions, Contessa, and Parm, all from bougie NYC groups. Though the city used to be overlooked compared to bigger markets, there appears to be three reasons for this shift: 1. Developers need hospitality groups for their swanky projects. 2. Local investors want to back brands with good track records. 3. Restaurant execs can expand without blowing the bank (while still catering to an affluent demographic). Seriously, even international groups from Dubai and London plan to debut here soon, too.
🎶 Now arriving: Noah Kahan-mania. Boston is going full Busyhead as Noah will perform four sold-out shows this week at Fenway. There are literally already lines down the street for his exclusive tour merch (look at these Red Sox tees!). Brands are obv hopping on the bandwagon with themed events like the Handle Bar’s sculpt and meditation class and Culture Pop’s pop-up with freebies and giveaways. Even Bova’s has a Fenway Forever Florentine cannoli and limited edition coasters (which we need ASAP).
😋 These new treats are ALL over our FYP. And going right to our saved folder. First up: The Salem-based Ye Olde Pepper Candy Pantry, a.k.a. THE oldest candy shop in America, is now in the North End. Apparently, they have the best fudge of your life. In an ice cream mood? Kyo Matcha’s matcha affogato is the collab we didn’t know we needed. Then hit up Crystal Bakery for the viral Taiwanese brekky burrito stuffed with pork floss, pickled veg, egg, and fried dough, wrapped in purple sticky rice.

ONE LAST THING
The Wedding Singer’s b-ball emergency

That man in the oversized tee and basketball shorts? No, it’s not your dad. Adam Sandler is in the houseeeeee!!! *cue airhorn sounds*
After officiating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding in NYC last Friday, Adam skirted straight to New England for the rest of the weekend, stopping by his home state of New Hampshire for some ice cream, and more notably, Nantucket, where he sought to find a pickup basketball game.
But he didn’t know the island at all. So he called the Nantucket police (non-emergency line, don’t worry) looking for info on which courts to go to.
If you’re new here, this is Adam’s usual routine, joining pickup games everywhere he goes. He even hooped at a local NYC court just hours before the Swift-Kelce wedding.
And apparently, he has earned the right to only wear basketball shorts because one of the random guys he played with on Nantucket called his passing skills “elite.”
