FOOD & DRINK

Your excuse to Dine Out

Foodies, assemble! Dine Out Boston is BACK from Feb. 22 to March 7. Tons of local restaurants will be offering affordable prix fixe lunch and dinner menus between $27 and $55 per person.

We know a thing or two about a great Dine Out deal, so here’s our take on what’s worth a res:

MICHELIN-APPROVED EATS

😋 Bar Volpe, $46 dinner. If this cozy Italian Southie haunt is good enough for the Michelin Guide, it’s definitely good enough for us to drop $46. And since we’re taking their advice, get the pasta and tiramisu. Our pick: The chopped salad with soppressata is a salty girl’s DREAM.

🥟 Sumiao Hunan Kitchen, $32 lunch, $46 dinner. You can chow down on four courses of traditional Hunan cuisine like gyoza, braised duck, and sticky rice cakes every day of the week (including Saturdays!).

BOUGIE BITES ON A BUDGET

🥩 Grill 23 & Bar, $55 dinner. An order of steak frites would usually run you $48 at this boujee Back Bay steakhouse, but during Dine Out, you can get it plus a salad and dessert for just $7 more — a perfect excuse to splurge on their viral icy martinis.

FYP FAVES

🍔 Nowon, $32 lunch, $46 dinner. Insta baddies, rejoice! Nowon’s viral legendary burger with top-secret umami seasoning, a special kimchi sauce, and oozing with cheese is available on both menus. We’d personally recommend dinner, where it’ll be served alongside five other menu hits (think: chopped cheese rice cakes and garlic butter tots).

🍝 Trattoria Il Panino, $32 lunch, $46 dinner. The TikTok girlies swear this spot has the best pasta in the North End, and for $46 a pop, we’re willing to hear them out! This signature mezzi paccheri al ragù with red sauce, shredded pork, and fat noodles does look delish.

WORTH-IT NEIGHBORHOOD HAUNTS

🐘 The Elephant Walk, $46 dinner. If 1,000+ rave reviews on OpenTable are any indication, you should give this French-Cambodian restaurant a try. Your reward: Beef bourguignon, curried mussels, and chocolate truffle cake.

🍲 Q Restaurant, $32 lunch, $46 dinner. This Dine Out deal doubles as a soup season celebration with its trendy Mongolian hot pot experience (the chocolate cake truffle cake and avocado salad just sweeten the deal).

🍟 Waverly Kitchen & Bar, $46 dinner. This Charlestown spot (yes, the one from that girl dinner) is worth trying for the gorg dining room alone, but the broccoli Caesar, steak frites, and chipwich combo certainly doesn’t hurt.

CITY

Quick & dirty headlines

Image: David L. Ryan/The Boston Globe

⚽ Foxborough is fed up with FIFA. Town leaders are refusing to green light the entertainment license for this summer’s World Cup games at Gillette until they secure more $$$ for security costs (they said it shouldn't be on Foxborough taxpayers to fund an international event). A pending $8 million grant could solve the issue, but it’s unclear who would foot the bill if it falls through — FIFA says it’s not their problem, Foxborough can’t afford it, and the Kraft Group is MIA. Speaking of, hot tip: Airbnb is offering $750 bonuses for new hosts in World Cup cities.

🏕️ It’s time to plan your summer staycation. ‘Cause the DCR just opened spring reservations for Mass.’ state campgrounds! Here’s the deal: Sites can be reserved from April or May through October, and can be booked four months out on a rolling basis (ex: you could reserve a spot through June 19 as of today). Not sure where to go? WBUR has guides to the best spots for newbies, featuring cabins and yurts, beach camping hot spots, and even a ~hidden gem~. You can book your excursion here.

☘️ This year’s St. Paddy’s parade is totally backwards. Literally! As a nod to America’s 250th birthday, parade organizers Allied War Veterans are literally running the parade in reverse this year (which, BTW, is on March 15). The new route will kick off at Andrew Square and work backwards, ending on A Street near Gillette’s World Shaving HQ. Visual learner? Here’s a look at the map. Despite the change, projections show we can expect similar numbers of wasted frat dudes. JK! (Not really.)

🌭 Glizzy guzzlers, this one’s for you: The Narragansett Hot Dog Crawl is BACK! Your mission: Get a punch card and fill it up by ordering hot dogs from An Sibin, Shay’s Pub and Wine Bar, Vera’s, The Hollows, Five Horses Tavern, and Trina’s Starlite Lounge before March 11. If you complete the crawl, you’ll get the chance to win some epic prizes, and obviously, the whole thing ends with a hot dog bash at Trina’s. Oh, we’re SOLD.

QUICK QUESTION!

🏕️ Would you go camping for fun?

ONE LAST THING

Cardi B speaks out

If there were any confusion about whether Stefon Diggs and Cardi B are really over … let’s just say Cardi has cleared the air.

Quick recap: The rapper and Pats wide receiver have been dating since late 2024 and welcomed a baby in 2025, marking the beginning of Cardi’s unlikely Masshole era. She shopped in Dedham and watched games with Robert Kraft.

But since the Super Bowl, rumors have been swirling about a breakup, which Ms. B has seemingly confirmed. At her recent L.A. concert, she said this before launching into a diss track about rapper BIA, who recently shaded Diggs online: “Just 'cause I ain't f****in' with my baby daddy doesn't mean you get to talk about my baby daddy, b***h.”

Well, that’s all the confirmation we need!

🏈 Thanks for reading! She’s probably better off … but we’ll miss her anyway.

💜 Special shoutout to today’s sponsor, the Malden Gaming District, for supporting local journalism and keeping Boston nights out easy and affordable.

💸 The results are in: 68% of readers said they’d vote NO on slashing the state income tax. One reader said: “Is it a hot take to like paying taxes to support my community?” Apparently not!
